What are white-label PPC services?

White-label PPC services are PPC services you can resell under your own brand.

Imagine having your clients’ Google, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube ads fulfilled by certified pros without having to lift a finger. AKA you sell the services and outsource the work to a third-party, and that party charges a price that you mark up however you want. Win win.

What are gray-label PPC services?

In addition to white-label PPC services, some providers offer gray-label PPC services.

Gray-label PPC services are services that are fulfilled through generic communication channels that contain minimal personalized branding. These services are less customized than fully white-labelled PPC services, but they’re often more affordable.

Personally, I prefer fully white-labelled services for the sake of building a stronger brand, but gray-label is an option chosen by many agencies.

Which white-label PPC services should you offer?

Top white-label PPC providers offer extensive services for you to resell. If you’re putting together comprehensive packages, you’ll want to make sure you cover the main platforms.

I recommend starting with Google, Bing, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

White-label PPC services channels

After those bases are covered, think about your audience. Are they active on other networks like Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Tiktok? Find a PPC provider who can help with those channels.

On top of base packages, many white-label providers offer a variety of add-ons for upsell. Here are some ideas to get the gears turning.

→ Landing page builds. Help clients improve conversion rates by adding landing page builds to your campaigns.

→ Call tracking. Identify leads, prove ROI, and get customer feedback for your clients by adding call tracking.

→ Hourly rates. As a potential add-on, offer extra hours of execution for creating banners, making adjustments to campaigns, or any other type of work.

→ Strategy calls. Consider ad hoc strategy sessions to discuss go-to-market tactics and campaign performance with clients who need assistance.

→ Additional creative creation. Charge for creating banners or any other type of visuals that clients need for running campaigns.

→ Native ads. Consider a one-time charge covering the setup of all of your client’s native ads campaign. This could involve the creation of engaging content in the form of articles, blogs, listicles, and more.

→ Publisher display promotion. Charge for display campaigns across the likes of Google’s Display Network, which can be positioned as “air coverage” to support larger campaigns.

In addition to the above services and add-ons, some white-label PPC providers also offer proprietary solutions like geofencing, programmatic ads, and advanced reporting. Depending on your market, these could help you stand out over the competition. For example, one of the white-label PPC services Vendasta offers is called LocalAds. LocalAds is an omnichannel service built specifically for helping local businesses improve awareness, get customers into physical stores or outdoor events, and more.

How do white-label PPC services work?

White-label PPC services typically follow a well-oiled process. The exact steps may differ from provider to provider, but the general workflow is the following.

Step 1: Order. Your team submits orders for new campaigns, likely through filling out a form or creative brief with information like budget, audience, and goals.

Step 2: Setup. The white-label PPC services team begins work on the campaign. They’ll do keyword research, implement tracking codes, and execute creative.

Step 3: Optimization. Post-launch, the white-label PPC services team will monitor your clients’ campaigns and make optimizations consistent with your agreement.

Step 4: Reporting. Both you and your client will have access to performance reports, likely automated through email or the provider’s platform.

It’s important to note that different white-label providers offer different delivery models, too.

How are white-label PPC services delivered?

White-label PPC services can be delivered one of three ways…

The Do It Yourself model puts ultimate control in your clients’ hands. It’s the cheapest model because you’re essentially hooking up your clients’ ad accounts and then leaving them to their own devices. I don’t recommend this approach, as it leads to the highest churn.

The Do It For Me model is the equivalent of full-on outsourcing. This is the most hands-off model. You essentially connect your clients with the white-label PPC services provider and then step away. This could be good if you have a lot of trust in your providers, but it might backfire and ruin your reputation if something goes wrong.

The Do It With Me model is where the white-label PPC services provider works closely with you and uses your team’s knowledge of your clients’ businesses. You’ll be more hands-on than the DIFM model—crafting ideas, giving feedback, etc.—and the campaigns usually perform the best, as they leverage your expertise local knowledge.

Due to high client turnover with the DIY model and the potential for things to go off the rails with Do It For Me, I tend to prefer the Do It With Me model. It’s a good balance.

Whichever you prefer, make sure your provider has the right model for you.

What white-label PPC services mistakes should you avoid?

If I had a nickel for every white-label PPC services mistake I’ve seen, I’d have enough to buy at least half of this list. Here are the 6 most common mistakes I’ve encountered.

White-label PPC services mistakes

Survey says…

1. Choosing a provider who doesn’t know your audience. The biggest mistake I’ve seen agency owners make is choosing a white-label provider that doesn’t know their audience or market. Believe it or not, I’ve seen social posts promoting the wrong home-town sports teams, advertisements for snow tires in Phoenix, and worse. Don’t leave your reputation in the hands of anyone you wouldn’t trust with your own social channels.

2. Going with the cheapest option. You get what you pay for, and the cheapest white-label PPC services (think mediocre Upwork or Fiverr freelancers) aren’t worth the time you’ll spend trying to fix mistakes and manage client relationships when things go wrong. You’re better off paying for certified pros and qualified work.

3. Thinking VAs can do strategy work. Virtual Assistants are great at many, many things, but full-blown white-label PPC strategy work, especially for small businesses in your local market, is expecting too much. Instead, use VAs to scale repeatable processes and execute deliverables as part of the grander strategy. But if you’re looking for an end-to-end white-label PPC services provider? Find a specialist in your market.

4. Picking the wrong delivery model. Many agency owners try pitching the wrong delivery model. DIY products can be good for business owners with more time than money, but generally they lead to dissatisfied clients and high churn. Do It For Me and Do It With Me models can both work well, but if your clients need more hand holding or a lot of local market knowledge is required, DIWM may be a better choice.

5. Not charging enough. Every agency owner has at some point undervalued their time or services. Rather than charging a low rate per hour or trying to have the cheapest offering in your market, start by aiming high. Make sure you account for all the time it will take to coordinate the services and bake in double digit margins.

6. Bad reporting. A lot of effort goes into executing good white-label PPC services but oftentimes the reporting stinks. Make sure you’re maintaining open lines of communication with clients and being open about what’s working and what’s not.

Pricing your white-label PPC services

Pricing your white-label PPC services is a big decision.

Here’s an example pricing sheet, which does a good job outlining both wholesale costs and the suggested retail price (SRP) for different services offered.

White-label PPC services pricing, including wholesale costs and suggested retail prices. For more pricing information, download the full white-label pricing deck.

In the above example, you pay the wholesale costs to the white-label provider and then turn around and charge the SRP to your clients for healthy double-digit margins.

It’s also smart to establish base packages for running campaigns and then tack on a variety of add-ons that you can upsell depending on client. Examples of add-ons can be seen above, including: boosting, call tracking, hourly rates, landing pages, strategy calls, etc.

Who are the top white-label PPC services providers?

I consider the top 4 white-label PPC services providers the following.

1. Vendasta. Vendasta is an all-in-one platform for companies selling to local businesses. In addition to a full spectrum of white-label PPC services and grey-label PPC services, they also have PPC products that you can sell for even higher margins, as well as 250+ other marketing solutions you can white label.

2. White Shark Media. White Shark Media is a digital agency with 10+ years experience managing PPC on Google, Microsoft, and Facebook. They provide custom PPC solutions and white-label services to all sizes of businesses.

3. PPC Ninja. PPC Ninja is a bit scrappier and less established than the others on this list, but they’re still a Premier Google Partner and everything they do is month-to-month, which is a refreshing change from some of the fully subscription-based SaaS platforms.

4. Invisible PPC. Invisible PPC specializes in white-label PPC services and doesn’t dilute its offering with anything else. That can be good or bad depending how you look at it. I’ve heard good things, and they’ve certainly managed their share of ad spend.
